DMV Mothers Like Me will host its 5th annual #WearOrange Gun Violence Awareness Bridge Walk this summer! With your participation in this event, we are joining national, state and local organizations in the effort to end gun violence in our community.
WHAT: #WearOrange Gun Violence Awareness Bridge Walk
WHY: Orange has been the defining color to raise awareness around gun violence and the gun violence prevention movement since June 2015, honoring Hadiya Pendleton (a 15-year old girl killed in Chicago), along with hundreds of lives cut short and many others wounded by gun violence every day.
Gun Violence Awareness Day is observed nationally on the first Friday in June and throughout the weekend each year. It’s an opportunity to visibly demonstrate our collective power, bringing together a broad spectrum of organizations, brands, influencers, community and family members. All across the country, we can show up in different ways to curb gun violence.
WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2025 – 8:00am
WHERE: Meet/Park @ National Harbor Tanger Outlets parking lot – in front of
Ralph Lauren Polo store
6800 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD
