When my son survived a gunshot wound to the head —due to senseless gun violence. I found myself searching for guidance, support, and resources to help navigate his recovery. I wished there had been a central place to turn to—a hub of information that could make the journey a little easier.
DMV Mothers Like Me was created for other mothers who share that same wish. Here, you’ll find a supportive community, valuable resources, and a space where no mother has to navigate this journey alone.

Join us on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at 8:00 AM for the 5th annual WearOrange Gun Violence Awareness Bridge Walk—a powerful event hosted by DMV Mothers Like Me. Each year, we come together as a community to honor Survivors and Victims of gun violence, raise awareness, and advocate for change.
Participants will walk across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Oxon Hill, Maryland, symbolizing the unity of national, state, and local organizations committed to ending gun violence.

DMV Mothers Like Me proudly stood in solidarity with the Jayz Agnew Foundation at their Inaugural Community Gun Violence Awareness Walk, honoring the life and legacy of Jayz Agnew. Together, we walked, remembered, and raised awareness to advocate for safer communities and an end to gun violence.
DMV Mothers Like Me stands in solidarity with the Jayz Agnew Foundation in the fight against gun violence. Our founder, Donna Haynes, proudly presented a $500 donation at the Community Gun Violence Awareness Walk to support their mission of creating safer communities for our youth. Together, we honor the memory of Jayz Agnew and all those impacted by gun violence.

The mission of this group is to connect mothers who reside in suburban areas of DC, Maryland and Virginia whose lives have been directly impacted by gun violence.
To provide a hub of resources and recommendations for crime and crisis support, health and wellness programs, legal services, and a host of other information that may not be easily accessible otherwise. We are also committed to partnering with community leaders and organizations to promote advocacy programs and related services available to affected families.
